11/14 & 11/15 – Letters of recommendation due by the 18th.   WHOLE thing due on 12/2.   21-30 turned in or finished for HW.

Bright Futures Application Printing Instructions

When you come to the end of the Bright Futures application, you will see a YELLOW box that reads: SUBMIT/PRINT. Click this box.

A print window will come up. Cancel it.

If you did not input your SSN, a dialogue box will appear with your pseudonumber. Take a picture of this.

Finally, a Saved Results page will load. Press the PrntScrn button at the top right of the keyboard, then minimize your browser window.

Open Microsoft Word and click the Paste button. A screenshot of the Saved Results page will appear on the document. THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL PRINT.

 

11/9 & 11/10 – Finish “The Battle of Grendal” (415 -419) questions Do your cover letter and job application.  Due next class.H

11/7 & 11/8FINISH THE FINAL DRAFT.  ALL DUE NEXT CLASS.

11/3 & 11/4Do the sheet on “Grendal” questions from class.  Turn in next class.  Make sure your rough draft comes to class on Mon/Tues. Resume’ Check for Senior Portfolio.

10/28 & 10/31 (CATCH UP – INCLUDES 11/1 & 11/2) – Go to materials and read the Beowulf Movie vs Poem blog.  Write a minimum of 200 words summarizing the differences the author points out between the movie and the poem.   WILL COUNT as a grade.  Due next same color day for your class.

Alternative assignment – write and perform a rap of the material in this article.  How did the movie makers change up the story and the characters, so that they are no longer heroic?

10/26 & 10/27 – Watch the training on Argument (if not done).  Use the first frame prompts (first blue arrow).  Pick one.  Make up “fake” articles and statistics to back up your claim and reasonings.  Minimum of 200 words.  Here is the prompt:

A formal argument states a position on a substantive topic and then supports that position with reasons and evidence. The purpose of a formal argument is to make readers believe something and, in many cases, to take some type of action.

Any of these ideas might be presented as an argument:

  • You and concerned classmates want to convince your school board to reject high stakes testing at your school.
  • An animal welfare group is urging people to consider adopting older and disabled pets.
  • You want to convince your parents to allow you to take a year off before college.

This is for a grade and due next class.  Next black day for 5th.

10/24 & 10/25Watch the two PPT’s. Quiz on them next class. Start looking for your article for the essay, and plan who you will have do your letters of recommendations.

10/20 & 10/21 – Begin planning for your essay, and think of who you are going to ask to do your letters of recommendations.  Read through this introduction to MLA format:

MLA Format Papers: Step-by-step Instructions for Writing Research Essays

Study Voc. and piece for test on “Vindication…” quiz.  Is moved to Mon/Tues.

10/18 & 10/19 – Study for “Vindication of a Woman” quiz.  FIRST quiz of 2nd quarter.

10/10 – 10/14 – IF NEEDED finish your essay.  MUST turn in by Friday.  Thus/Fri. & Tues/Wed is the Collection Unit 2 TEST (this is on the standards).  It has been moved to count in the new quarter.  MUST make-up at lunch or after school if missed.  Must make up all missed quizzes by Friday.  FRIDAY is the end of the quarter and grades are due into the district.  NO School on Wednesday.  No students at school on Monday.  Talk to me by Friday if there is any issues in getting things in by Friday.

9/13 – CLOSE READER AND TEST ON PARDONER TOMORROW.

9/9 & 9/12 – Finish the close reader portion on the Pardoner’s Tale.  Will turn in next class for a major grade.  TEST on Pardoner’s Tale NEXT CLASS.  Study test, vocabulary, etc.  SPECIAL CONSIDERATION – 5TH PERIOD WILL BE ON 9/14 since we did not finish the video & had the counselors in for most of Monday.

9/7 & 9/8 – Look at literary devices. Click on the ones you do not know and read. Make a list of ten that you were not familiar with to bring to class.

9/2 & 9/6 – FINISH the Read and Reread for Prologue of Pardoner’s Tale.

8/31 & 9/1– Reread prologue and tale.  Quiz NEXT class.

8/25 & 8/26 –  HW – Finish  p. 90 – Analyzing the Text (1-7) if needed.  Draw a picture of what you think the Wife of Bath looks like.  Use the analysis of Wife of Bath (see materials).
