Due – LAST chance to turn in anything for the second quarter. Books close on Friday. Remember, if it is not graded yet, and you did not do it, you will then get a zero. So…the current grade is not accurate – it could go up, or down.

Today is the Mid-term exam. MUST turn in the review sheet BEFORE the exam for the extra points. THIS test is 20% of your semester grade. Any phones seen will be taken for the day – the first time. Any seen out during the test will result in a zero on the test. ONLY have a pencil, and notebook paper on your desk.

Collaborate with other classmates.  Put the finishing touches on the content for your PPT of your poem.  Start work on your Theme Literary Analysis.

Take PPT (from two classes ago) QUIZ

When finished with the quiz read pages 150-155 in AS English Literature books (on black shelf in back).

Turn in Theme sheets and produce a sign-in sheet.  Choose a theme to do your analysis on.  See last class for details.  Sign-up must be as near to even as it can be.  Fill in once, then repeat, then repeat, etc.

Look at poems in the materials section.  Work on framing up your analysis essay using these poems.  In general ways.

Work on your PPT plan for your selected poem.  Research others who have addressed your poem.  Bounce your ideas around with others in the room.

Remember the Power Points are due on 11/3 (Black) and 11/4 (Gold).  The Theme Analysis is due on 11/14 (Black) and 11/15 (Gold).

 

10/26 & 10/27

Take PPT quiz – POSTPONED TO NEXT CLASS.

Pass out Poem sheet and website.  This will help during our discussion of the poems.

ASSIGN PPT poem.  Due (bring on flash drive) on 11/3 (Black) and 11/4 (Gold).  Will be mixed in with the available analysis of the other poems.  Be ready FROM these dates.  Bring flash drive each day…or email the PPT to teacher’s email address as an attachment.

Discuss Themes – Individually, make a form on your own paper with columns for each theme, fill in form with the titles of the poems you think fit.  Discuss and make a class list.  Turn this in.  Next class we will divide class by themes.  Think about why you think each poem fits.  May make adjustments.  You will be asked to write a poetry analysis for your assigned theme using the poems that match.  Sheet turned in at end of class, but analysis due on 11/9 (Black) and 11/10 (gold).

Finish 6th packet – if needed.  Start search and planning for other assignments.  A double grade quiz on ALL the poems will be on 11/14 (black) and 11/15 (gold).  Then we move on to the Bard.

 

10/24 & 10/25 – See door for class assignment.  Materials are with the teacher.
